Springtime portrait ideas using blossoms

Following the seasons and what they have to offer us is always a good idea, like for example eating fresh produce when it is in season only.  The same applies to photography.  It is now springtime (at last!) in New Zealand, the weather is kinder to us, the birds are singing away and the trees are in flower. It will be the holidays soon and time therefore for the mini portrait sessions so I am thinking of ways to use springtime as a backdrop and a prop for your children’s portraits. I love the orchard trees when they are blossoming; the little pink or white flowers are delightful and they make a beautiful backdrop for photographs like in the photos that I took of gorgeous Stella in her parents’ orchard. Don’t they make you want to have fresh new portraits of your children done now that winter is behind us, the sun is shining and the holidays are coming up?! Portrait session – isabelle + fabien

Isabelle and Fabien were just gorgeous – I say that about pretty much all children, but it’s true most kids are just gorgeous in their own very personal way, and I love that! Fabien was such a happy little chap, and Isabelle was just divine, despite being very tired, her personality shines through these photos. What i am learning through these portrait sessions is that children are always true to themselves and you have to embrace and cherish what they bring to the moment and go with the flow. xx
